The UMass Amherst Libraries have utilized bepress’ Expert Gallery Suite (EGS, formerly known as SelectedWorks) for our researcher profile pages since 2006. Bepress has announced that they will be retiring the Expert Gallery Suite platform in December 2024. Further, the UMass Amherst Libraries will no longer be bepress customers effective June 30, 2024. The Libraries are exploring alternative solutions to EGS profiles and will keep all users updated.
What does this retirement mean for our active EGS (works.bepress.com) users?
- The UMass Amherst Libraries have utilized bepress’ Expert Gallery Suite (EGS, formerly known as SelectedWorks) for our researcher profile pages since 2006. Bepress has announced that they will be retiring the Expert Gallery Suite platform in December 2024. Further, the UMass Amherst Libraries will no longer be bepress customers effective June 30, 2024. The Libraries are exploring alternative solutions to EGS profiles and will keep all users updated.
- Bepress will provide the Libraries with all of the content uploaded to your profiles, but only through Friday, May 17, 2024. This means that we will only have access to content that you have uploaded to your profile from the date the profile was created through May 17, 2024. You may continue to use your profile beyond that date, but the Libraries will not have access to content uploaded between May 17, 2024 and December 31, 2024.
- All EGS profiles will be completely removed from the web effective December 31, 2024.
What can you do to prepare
- The Libraries strongly suggest that you use your ORCID profile as an alternative to your Expert Gallery profile.
- ORCID is a free, unique, persistent, and universal digital identifier with an associated profile for you to share your employment, education, publications, and more.
- Replace any links to your EGS profile in your CV, on your website, etc., with a link to your ORCID profile.
