A short handbook on how to do library research, available in Japanese, English, Chinese and Korean.

This guide looks like it was developed for foreign students writing in Japanese. Lots of furigana and helpful information.

If you are writing in English but using Japanese sources, one of the most thoughtful guides to help you is the Monumenta Nipponica Style Sheet. It is adapted from the Chicago Manual of Style.

A. Yes, you can cite the location numbers, although unless a reader has the Kindle edition of that work, the numbers will be of little use for finding the text. Like unpaged online content, Kindle editions are best cited with reference to chapter titles or numbers, subheadings, or a unique phrase that can be located by searching.
