Japanese - Guide to Using Yomidasu Rekishikan

The Yomidasu Rekishikan is a subscription database to the Yomiuri Newspaper. Please access it through the Libraries' Database page

Yomiuri Shimbun (読売新聞)provides over 4.8 million news articles of The Yomiuri Shimbun from 1986 to the current.

Basic search is performed by search term (検索語), Boolean Search, and full text (全文検索) or keyword search(キーワード検索).

 

You can also limit your search by dates (検索期間 Japanese or Gregorian), regional editions(地域版), and newspaper categories(分類).

How to search

The search box is the same as the Meiji, Taisho, Showa period search. But remember you can also specify which section of the paper you want to search. This will help you if you are looking for articles that are written from a political viewpoint compared to a social viewpoint, or you only want to see the articles that appeared on the front page of the paper.

Using Full text search will retrieve related expressions, and words from within the article not just the title.
