Current awareness
The law is constantly changing and it can be difficult to keep up with what's new in your area. There are several web sites (free and paid) that offer current awareness services, alerting subscribers to new cases, new bills and legislation, and new commentary in law.
A simple option is to subscribe to a web site's RSS feed or e-mail alert. Many web sites and blogs have news feeds that send new information to your RSS reader or e-mail address. These can usually be found by searching the name of the web page and "RSS".
- Justia newslettersUsers can subscribe to daily or weekly newsletters summarizing developments in the law by court level or by subject area.
- Library of Congress newslettersIncludes federal bills, legal topics, and legal news and events.
- LegiScanAllows users to set up RSS feeds to track the progress of federal and state bills. Registration required (free).
- GovTrack alertsUsers can get e-mails updating them on new federal bills and bill progress, including by subject matter.
- LexologyLexology provides alerts to commentary on your selected area of law. The content is geared towards practitioners. Requires free registration.
