The Institute provides information services to geoscientists, serves as a voice of shared interests in our profession, plays a major role in strengthening geoscience education, and strives to increase public awareness of the vital role the geosciences play in society’s use of resources, resilience to natural hazards, and the health of the environment.
- Association of American State GeologistsThe Association of American State Geologists (AASG) represents the State Geologists of the States and Puerto Rico. Founded in 1908, AASG advances the science and practical application of geology and related earth sciences in the United States and its territories, commonwealths, and possessions.
- American Association of Petroleum GeologistsSince its founding in 1917, the American Association of Petroleum Geologists has been a pillar of the worldwide scientific community. The original purpose of AAPG, to foster scientific research, to advance the science of geology, to promote technology, and to inspire high professional conduct, still guides the Association today.
Geography
- American Association of GeographersWe provide students, educators, practitioners, and partners with the resources they need to enter the field, develop their careers, and form professional friendships that can last a lifetime. Through annual and ongoing programs, events, and meetings, we aim to create a space in which all geographers—wherever they come from—will know they are valued, heard, and welcomed.
