While you are in Japan you should keep an eye out for materials that you can use for your senior year, either for your senior thesis or to use for special projects. This is particularly important if you want to work on popular culture types of topics, such as idols, advertising, sports culture, consumerism, etc.
Given our limited funds and the difficulty to locate and order, Libraries have a hard time collecting:
- music
- theatrical performances
- popular magazines
- advertisements
- brochures
- temple/shrine pamphlets
- cartoons
- television series
- newspaper clippings
These are all primary sources and not easy to get through interlibrary loan or purchase.
