Dissertations & Theses

A guide for graduate students preparing to submit their theses and dissertations to ScholarWorks.

Revising Your Submission

ScholarWorks will send you a confirmation email after you have successfully uploaded your ETD.  This email will contain a link that takes you directly to your submission should you need to do any immediate revisions.

  • ScholarWorks is very particular about these revision links.  If you have mail forwarding set up and click the link from an email address that's different from your account/author email, you will get an error message.

You can also access your submission from your My Account page after logging in.  You'll see a box that says either Doctoral Dissertations or Masters Theses with the title of your submission and its status.

If you click on the title, you'll be taken to a new screen that will show an option to revise your submission in the lefthand menu.

If you receive a confirmation email, but do not see a submission from your account page, please email scholarworks@library.umass.edu.  This typically means that you created a ScholarWorks account with one email address, but then used a different email address as your author email.

The Review Process

The Graduate School reviews the formatting for every single ETD submission and this process may take between 6-8 weeks.  If your ETD requires any formatting revisions, you will be emailed through ScholarWorks with a detailed list of revisions and a due date by which you need to complete them.  If your ETD does not require any revisions, you might not hear anything from the Graduate School until your ETD has been approved and posted.
