Specialization that offers a comprehensive understanding of the roles of capital, culture, and politics at a time of rapid climate change. Students engage with literature and other arts from across the globe, and also gain understanding of ecological concepts.

Developed by a visionary group of faculty, staff, graduate students, and alumni of UMass Amherst, and is a collaboration between the School of Earth and Sustainability, the College of Humanities and Fine Arts, and the UMass Libraries.

A series of interdisciplinary research collaborations, undergraduate and graduate courses, hands-on workshops, conferences, and arts programming that consider how legacies of the early modern past inform our environmental future.
