About the UMass Real Food internship

Sara Hopps, Class of 2014 explains...

What is "real food?"

Real food is:

  • Local/community-based
  • Fairly acquired
  • Ecologically sound
  • Humanely raised and slaughtered

What is the Real Food Challenge?

The Real Food Challenge empowers students and universities to create a healthy, fair and green food system.

Check out this national network of student food activists for opportunities to network, learn, and develop leadership skills.

Their primary campaign is to shift university food budgets away from industrial farms and junk food and towards local/community-based, fair, ecologically sound and humane food sources by 2020 ($1 billion is the goal).
