Evaluating websites
- Evaluating Web Sites (U. of California Berkeley)Web page checklist
View information from the Web with healthy skepticism. To test the reliability of a website (or any source of information), look at:
- Who are the authors?
What are their credentials? - Currency: when was the site last updated?
- Is what they say reasonable?
Is it biased? If so, do they say so? - Do they cite sources?
Are these sources reliable?
Do they actually support what the citer is saying?
If you have any doubts about a website, please feel free to contact your librarian!
